Rudolf Gonzalez, Born February 27, 1955 in Manila, Philippines, is the oldest son of Rick Gonzalez, famed Filipino artist, and the grandson of the late Felix Gonzalez. He is also the cousin of Hawaiis foremost seascape artist, Roy Gonzalez Tabora. His style has developed from their influence, as well as those of artists he admires, including Rembrandt, John Singer Sargent, Monet, and Sisley.
"There is only one rule, and that is to express oneself in any way, shape, or form. True artistry for me is when every single piece of artwork I create is a result of my passion for art and my mood at that moment."
His love of art was evident at an early age. By the time he was 8 years old he was painting and serving as an apprentice in his fathers art gallery. At 13, he sold his first work of art and that event paved the way for Rudolf to pursue his passion for art and to aspire to become a great artist. Finishing high school and college at Far Eastern University, Rudolf participated in numerous exhibits and art competitions, giving him the opportunity to express himself and discover his world through art
Rudolfs talents and vision find expression through many media and subject matter. Although the still life remains a favorite genre, he also excels in other subject matter such as seascapes, landscapes, human interest compositions, and portraiture. He is equally adept with a variety of media such as charcoal, graphite, watercolor, pastels, and of course oils. This proficiency allows him the freedom to explore his subjects of interest and his moods.
Rudolf Gonzalezs extensive training, education, and experience have contributed greatly to his success. But more importantly, his familys rich tradition of artistic excellence has continued to inspire and nurture his natural talents. His works clearly convey his passion for his art and his skill as an artist
